They’re taking my daughter’s independence away
My severely disabled daughter is in residential school and will lose her mobility allowance, causing us to be unable to take her out to experience real life and learn essential social skills, which she finds incredibly difficult. She can’t cope with public transport and there is no way we could afford taxis without the extra money that mobility allowance gives us. So she will miss out on experiences which will mean she is more isolated and does not learn the social skills she desperately needs. It will also mean that she is isolated from family and it will be much more difficult for me as her parent to attend meetings and appointments on her behalf.
