Serco has been appointed as preferred bidder to run services outsourced by NHS Suffolk in a deal likely to go ahead within months (in 2012).

Under the deal, Serco will take on services including community nursing, specialist nursing, management and operation of community hospitals, speech and language therapy, specialist children’s services and community equipment services.

Around 1,000 NHS staff are expected to be transferred to the firm as part of the deal.
