Peterborough disabled facilities funding PE1

Peterborough City Council is planning to cut funding for necessary improvements to disabled people’s homes.

The council currentlys provide about £1.9m a year to help adapt the homes of vulnerable people to enable them to continue to live independently. The funding is means-tested and can pay for equipment such as stair lifts, back hoists or improving heating systems.

However, the council plans to cut £350k from this budget from 2013 onwards.

The council’s plans are currently out to public consultation along with the remainder of its proposed budget, with responses due by early February 2011.
