Cuts
Lambeth libraries SW
Sector: Libraries
THE four libraries most under threat of closure in a borough have been revealed. Lambeth council is considering axing the branches as it seeks to make savings of £39million this year following cuts in Government funding.
The town hall’s Labour leader, Councillor Steve Reed, said libraries that could go were those considered too expensive to run.
They are the Durning Library in Kennington Lane; Waterloo Library in Lower Marsh; Minet Library in Knatchbull Road, Brixton; and Carnegie Library in Herne Hill Road, Herne Hill.
