Kettering General Hospital staff NN16

Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is reducing its workforce by the equivalent of 200 full-time staff between 2010 and 2013, including cuts to agency staff.

The breakdown of the cuts is as follows:

Consultants - 8 FTE (full-time equivalent staff)
Healthcare assistants and other support staff - 60 FTE
Scientific and technical - 2 FTE
Clinical agency staff - 40 FTE
Admin, clerical and estates pay - 79 FTE
Non-clinical agency staff - 32 FTE

However, there will be an increase of 7 FTE junior medical staff and 14 FTE nurses and midwives. There will be no overall change to the number of senior managers.

The Trust runs Kettering General Hospital, a medium-sized district general hospital which provides a wide range of services to about 300,000 people in North Northamptonshire. The Trust also runs a wide range of outpatient clinics in Corby, Wellingborough and Rushden.

Ketter General Hospital job cuts

Having several elderly relatives visit the hospital recently for accidents or much needed surgeries has given me a lot of experience of the hospital as it currently stands.

The hospital already struggles with horrifically understaffed wards that I’ve seen in my visits. The waiting times may increase for operations from these cuts, which may put lives at risk in the area, especially the lives of the most vulnerable.
