Disability and social care, Westminster
Westminster has increased the cost of using short break or respite services by 500 per cent increase and the cost of using after school play services by 325 per cent. They are also considering closing a local advice and support centre that aims to increase disabled people’s independence in their local community. The council is replacing existing council drop-in centres with new community hubs and has increased the eligibility criteria for care services from the lower ‘moderate’ level to the higher levels of ‘substantial’ and ‘critical’ needs.
