Derby have increased the cost of care in the home delivered by the authority by 78 per cent and by 41 per cent for those who receive services by independent organisations paid by the authority to deliver these services. They have recently closed a weekend club for disabled children and restricted the number of disabled children who use after-school support services. The council has also raised the eligibility for care and support from the lower ‘moderate’ level to the higher ‘substantial’ and ‘critical’ levels of need.
