Cambridge City Pest Control Service Cb

Location: UK » East of England » CB

Cambridge City want to cut the pest control service, it currently offers free elimination of rats, cockroaches, pharaoh’s ants and bedbugs in homes.  The 2 Pest Controllers have excellent local knowledge and almost 60 years experience between them.
they also keep parks, allotments and Cambridge beauty spots rat free, the council in future will still have a duty to keep their own land and buildings rat free, presumably by hiring a private contractor.

The council wants to replace the service with a £10,000 fund for those on the lowest income, enough only to pay for 20 large scale treatments -in 2012 - 13 the pest controllers work included 410 rat treatments and 117 bedbug treatments.  If payment is means tested only it will miss many other people who cannot afford to pay.  Pests know no boundaries, if they are not eliminated they will breed and spread The net savings to the council will be £13,859 and £54,500 ongoing.
There is a petition against the cut at change.org. Please sign
