Avon and Wiltshire Partnership

Location: UK » South West » BS
Sector: Health

Avon and Wiltshire Partnership is a mental health trust that spans several counties in the West of England. It is planning to cut its budget to services by 6% every year for the next five years. They are starting by cutting the pay of staff, demoralising and devaluing them. Not taking care of staff does not mean that they will get better at caring for patients. But of course, it will also mean the reduction of an already massively overstretched service. The services are almost bound to fail cope leading to distess and potentially dire consequences for patients. It is deeply short sighted as if local services cannot be provided, then out of area and more expensive solutions need to be sought. This will be more expensive in the long run and lead to the increased privatisation of the NHS
