Amber Valley pest control charges DE5

Amber Valley Borough Council is introducing fees for some types of household pest control, and increasing existing fees for others, in 2011/12 (all figures include VAT):

• rats, mice, cockroaches, woodlice – currently free; will rise to £30 (£18 for benefits claimants) for three visits, and £12 for additional visits
• ants – currently £23; will rise to £30 (although a lower rate of £18 will be introduced for benefits claimants)
• bed bugs – currently free; will rise to £96 (£72 for benefits claimants)

Pest control charges are also rising above inflation for the commercial and not-for-profit sectors.
