Hardest Hit rally - North West M60
When: Saturday 22 October 2011, 2:00pm
Where: Manchester Town Hall, Albert Square, Manchester M60 2LA
Saturday 22nd October
Rally 2.00 – 3.00
Albert Square
Disabled people in the North West, along with their families and friends,
are taking to the streets in Manchester to protest against Government cuts
to disability benefits and services. Join us and help to make sure all our
voices are heard.
The rally is taking place in Albert Square, just outside Manchester Town
Hall, from 2.00 – 3.00. Our compere – Tony Shumacher – will make sure
we have something to smile about and music will be provided by local
singer/songwriter Susan Hedges. The MP for Manchester Central, Tony Lloyd is
coming along to share his views on the proposed changes. We will also be
joined by a number of local people who can speak from their own experiences
about what the proposed cuts to benefits and services will mean to them as
disabled people trying to live independent and fulfilling lives.
For details of how to get to Manchester Town Hall, including public
transport links and disabled parking details go to
http://www.manchester.gov.uk/location, where you will also find a map of the area.
As new speakers and contributors are confirmed we will be adding them to
this page, so do keep an eye out for any changes. Please also help us spread
the word about Hardest Hit. Manchester is one of many cities across the
North West that have been severely affected by budget cuts. Across the
region people are seeing deep cuts in services such as social care and
transport, which they rely on to remain independent. Please come along, and
bring as many friends and family as you can. Help us to send a clear message
to the Government: stop these cuts.
