PIP mobility consultation: Making the most of the opportunity to input
Right, we have work to do!
We need to make the most of our opportunity to tell DWP what we think of the 20-metre walking distance criteria for enhanced rate mobility PIP and other aspects of the Moving around activity.
I know we’re sceptical about whether they’ll take account of what we say, but we have to try. We’re more likely to succeed if our responses are well-informed and also if we do all we can to get MP’s, Peers, health and social care staff and others on our side.
But we don’t have long; the consultation closes on 5 August.
Since the new consultation was published a week ago, we’ve been working on producing resources to enable us all, individually and collectively, make a well-reasoned response AND encourage others to support us by making their views known to the Government.
Our briefing gives detailed information on the context of the consultation and the concerns we have about the 20-metre distance and other aspects of the Government’s preferred option. See We are Spartacus briefing on PIP mobility consultation June 2013
Our survey has been developed to enable us to make an evidence-based community response to the consultation; it will be available for 2 weeks, until Monday 15 July. To take the survey, click on this link: http://survey.spartacusforum.
It’s very important to send your own response to the consultation in addition to completing the survey.
Use our briefing and your own experience of mobility difficulties to compile your own response to the consultation question: What are your views on the Moving around activity within the current PIP assessment criteria?
We will shortly publish guidance to help you write to your MP and raise awareness with health and social care professionals who may support us.
