“A Tale of Bob in Barnet” - Barnet Unison video on the perils of privatisation
Meanwhile, low paid careworkers at Your Choice Barnet, the outsourced trading company set up to run care services for disabled adults on behalf of Barnet Council, are fighting a Your Choice decision to cut careworkers' already-low wages by a minimum of 9.5%. Union members have completed an indicative ballot on the pay cut imposed by Your Choice Barnet - and voted by 97% to reject the cut.
Barnet Unison has made “A Tale of Bob in Barnet”, the video below, to show the challenges facing the union and its members.
As the union says: “many other trade unions and community campaigns have been facing the same challenges since the Coalition government unleashed austerity in our workplaces, our homes and on our services.”
The cartoons included in this video were drawn by cartoonist Tim Sanders with lyrics from a Unison supporter.
